TLDR

Cyan Banister, an angel investor and General Partner at Long Journey Ventures with early investments in Uber, SpaceX, and DeepMind, posted about second and third order impacts of Tesla's FSD. She said reduced driver stress will increase overall quality of life substantially, likening it to relief from a toothache that goes unnoticed until gone. Bayeslord, a co-founder of the effective accelerationism movement, replied that Elon should license FSD to other companies. He argued legacy automakers will take far longer to reach scale and that licensing would save lives since many people will keep driving non-Tesla cars for years.

It’s been said before but Elon should consider licensing FSD to other companies. It’s going to take legacy corps so much longer to figure out FSD at scale, and people aren’t going to stop driving/owning other cars for a long time (if ever). Would save lives.…

Often times im in a hurry when im driving and will speed to try and get there faster. When you do the math, on a short trip, you save maybe 30sec to a minute. With fsd, it’s out of my hands and I just let the car handle it. Much safer and a huge relief on short commutes.…

@cyantist @wholemars @Tesla Just returned from a 1487 mile round-trip North Carolina to West Point, New York. From my driveway to the hotel and back, I never had to touch the wheel. It’s nice arriving at a destination without being exhausted.

@cyantist @Tesla 💯 agree. Just finished a FSD trip on Long Island and Brooklyn. Flawless though NY traffic and roads present a tough challenge. Just finished telling my wife how stress free the experience was.

@bayeslord I can’t think of anything in his history suggesting that saving lives is a concern for him. Can you?

Not often talked about, are the second and third order impacts of @Tesla's FSD. We think about how many accidents it will prevent, but we don't talk about how the lowering of stress on drivers will impact overall quality of life, which I think will increase substantially. Kind…
