TLDR

Investor Matt Shumer posted on X about a prompting approach called the Gauntlet Loop. It directs an AI to break goals into parts, assign specialist builder and ruthless blind critic sub-agents to each, and iterate until the output exceeds real-world equivalents such as recent Call of Duty titles. Variants using Opus 5 agents have been applied to generate a first-person shooter in ThreeJS. Shumer states the sub-agent critic method is the core value and plans to demonstrate its use beyond games for nearly any project.

I’m officially calling this the Gauntlet Loop. The agent (not you!!) breaks the goal into parts, gives each part a specialist builder and a ruthless blind critic sub-agent, with a mandate to only pass if the generated artifact is better than some real-world equivalent.…

i've been independently using a very similar loop over the past few weeks for frontend design / development work - using gpt-image-2 to generate a concept art northstar can confirm that this "gauntlet loop" is extremely effective and lets you get so much more out of any model…

I tried to one shot something using by having a prompt written and then executing the prompt - does not work anywhere near as good as your gauntlet loop. It works so well, now i have to dive into the linguistics and try and understand how and why it works so well. Thank you for…

@mattshumer_ This is such a mediocre prompt. After seeing the output, I’m tempted to actually drop a decent prompt to see what the model is truly capable of

@mattshumer_ You've been taking about this promt for 3 days now, it's really utterly not impressive, my 12 year old could have written it.
