Pedro Domingos said in an X post that he uses Google’s Gemini instead of ChatGPT or Claude for a few specific reasons, starting with search.
Domingos wrote that “much of what I do is interactive search,” and said Gemini is “the best one for that.” He also said it “integrates better with everything else I already have in Google,” making the case that the appeal is not just the model itself, but how well it fits into the tools he already uses.
He did not describe Gemini as the clear leader across every category. In the same post, Domingos said Gemini is “not the leader in some areas,” but added that “changes by the day.” That leaves his comparison as a practical one about his own workflow rather than a blanket claim that Gemini is best at everything.
Domingos also said he does not trust OpenAI or Anthropic with his “data or research,” presenting that as part of his personal reasoning for choosing Gemini.
The post is brief, but it draws a clear line between overall model rankings and day-to-day use: Domingos said Gemini suits the kind of work he does, works better with his existing Google setup, and feels like the better fit for how he wants to handle his research.
