The Wall Street Journal reports that a new White House task force has 120 days to assess the risks and opportunities of artificial intelligence and determine the federal government’s responsibility.

Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton will lead the group and effectively become the administration’s AI czar, according to the report. Clayton said President Donald Trump wants the United States to remain a leader in superintelligence while putting Americans’ interests first.

Bloomberg said, citing the Journal, that the task force is named the “Super Intelligence Force.” Its 120-day assignment is to produce a report, so its recommendations and any resulting policy remain unsettled.

But I think there are big downsides to suggesting we e.g. might not even have 4 months. Firstly, I think it's wrong. Secondly, it effectively rules out most of the interventions and processes that I think have the best chance of actually working.5d
