Engineer Investor@egr_investorUsed Muse last night to negotiate with my home internet provider over chat. A few messages back and forth with the agent later, my bill was down by ~$30/month. My ISP raised prices recently, but I had been too lazy/busy to go through the hassle of doing it myself. AI agents negotiating and monitoring recurring bills might be one of the more immediately useful consumer AI applications. But I suspect this arbitrage window is short. Once everyone has an agent monitoring subscriptions, threatening to cancel, and negotiating retention offers, there should be a lot less money left on the table from consumer inattention. That’s good! But providers will adapt too, likely with fewer discretionary discounts, less price discrimination, and potentially higher base prices. Agents may eliminate a lot of waste without eliminating the underlying economics. You may end up paying more for the services you value!11d
