Microsoft says Autopilot can keep working when users step away. Development lead Omar Shahine said its preview was rolling out to the first customers on September 25, 2026.
TLDR
Microsoft announced the Copilot update on September 25, 2026. The company says Home combines Chat and Cowork, Code lets users build apps from plain-English descriptions, and Office integration brings Word, Excel and PowerPoint into Copilot.
Microsoft describes Autopilot as a digital teammate with its own identity, memory, computer and workspace, with permissions, audit and governance through Agent365. Omar Shahine, whose team leads its development, said the agent is built on OpenClaw and its preview was rolling out to the first customers that day.
The company also says users can invoke Copilot in Teams, while a new Today view surfaces important information from across Microsoft 365 without needing a prompt.
