Lana Wilson-Combs@combs_lanaHey there, everyone. There was so much great sports action over the weekend--NFL and college football, the U.S. Open, and baseball--that I almost forgot about the movies. However, the big news on the movie front was that "Practical Magic 2," starring Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Dianne Wiest, Stockard Channing, Joey King, and Maisie Williams, knocked "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" from the top spot with a $30 million domestic haul. "Spider-Man" had reigned supreme at No. 1 for the past six weeks but now has fallen to second place with $8.4 million. It was followed by "The Odyssey, ($7.4 million). The exciting Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson dramady, "Runner" finished fourth with $6.6 million. Rounding out the Top Five was "Coyote vs. Acme" ($6.2 million). Here is what's opening in theaters on Sept. 18 and what I'll be reviewing. "THE WEIGHT"--(Opens in Theaters Sept. 18)--"The Weight" is a fictionalized historical drama set in Oregon in 1933, and follows a wrongly incarcerated man (Ethan Hawke, "Black Phone"). He is sent to a brutal work camp but offered a chance at an early release if he smuggles gold through the dangerous wilderness. The journey puts Murphy's determination and survival skills to the test. "The Weight" also stars Russell Crowe, ("Nuremberg"), Julia Jones ("The Twilight Saga"), Austin Amelio (TV's "Fear the Walking Dead"), and Avi Nash (TV's "The Walking Dead"), among others. "RESIDENT EVIL"--(Opens in Theaters Sept. 18)--Director Zach Cregger is back with another round of terror with "Resident Evil." This is the second reboot and eighth film overall in the "Resident Evil" film series. The movie stars Austin Abrams (“Whalefall”) as a medical courier who must fight through a viral outbreak of infected monsters in Raccoon City during a delivery. Zach Cherry ("Babies"), Paul Walter Hauser ("Balls Up"), Kali Reis ("Mercy"), and Johnno Wilson ("Grapefruit") also star. I'll have reviews of "Resident Evil" and "The Weight" posted to http://N2Entertainment.net on Sept. 18.
