Robert Eggers reportedly setting up ‘Romeo and Juliet’ adaptation at Focus Features

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Robert Eggers is setting up an adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at Focus Features, which won a bidding war involving A24, Sony and Warner Bros. The outlet says it will be his next film after ‘Werwulf.’ On September 23, 2026, Film Updates, citing Borys Kit, clarified that the film would use Elizabethan English rather than the “Olde English” previously reported.
