TLDR

A post says Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil is drawing praise for being bloody, intense and funny, while some fans object to the humor. It asks whether stripping out most of the comedy would actually make the movie worse, given the series’ mix of horror, action and absurdity. A separate post calls the First Aid Spray reference “probably the best Easter egg” in the movie.

Damien Wayne@Fame_0007Maybe the biggest problem with modern horror fans is that they don't know whether they want a horror movie or a horror movie that takes itself seriously. Zach Cregger's Resident Evil is being praised for being bloody, intense and funny, while some fans are already pushing back against the humor. But Resident Evil has always been a strange combination of horror, action and absurdity. So I'll ask: Would this movie actually be worse if Cregger removed most of the comedy and made it 100% serious? Or do horror fans just say they want "serious horror" until a movie actually gives them one?19d
