TLDR

Deadline posted that Sony Marvel Studios Spider Man Brand New Day reached 936.77 million dollars domestically and passed Star Wars The Force Awakens to claim the all time highest grossing spot at the U.S. box office. Empire magazine carried the same report and linked its own coverage confirming the milestone. A reply from one account observed that The Force Awakens sold more tickets before inflation adjustments and suggested other markets track admissions instead of gross receipts.

Miguel Hernández@Maikerus@starwars Very classy guys. That said, this obsession with the box office should evolve. The Force Awakens sold more tickets than Brand New Day, but because of inflation, BND broke the record. In other countries, they use ticket sales as the main indicator of success, it's only logical. 🤓24d
