In an interview published Oct. 7, Samuel L. Jackson told The Direct that Nick Fury will skip Avengers: Doomsday and return in Avengers: Secret Wars. Speaking at The Beast red carpet, Jackson described Secret Wars as “the movie after this one” and said Marvel told him, “You’re not gonna be in this movie. You’ll be in the next.”
Jackson said he had “no idea” what Secret Wars’ story would involve, so his comments confirm his expected return but reveal nothing about Fury’s role. The disclosure also cuts against an earlier report that Fury would appear in Doomsday.
Jackson was not included in Marvel’s official Doomsday cast reveal. Fury’s most recent MCU appearances were Secret Invasion and The Marvels, where the longtime Avengers organizer had shifted toward off-world operations and the SABER space station.
