Nintendo has ended service for Mario Kart Tour, shutting down the mobile game at 11 p.m. PT on Sept. 29, 2026, according to the company's support notice. In that notice, Nintendo thanked players for supporting the game and directed them to the Mario Kart Tour FAQ site for more information.

Featured Source

The shutdown closes out a game that launched in September 2019, according to VGC. Engadget reported that Nintendo announced in July that the game would shutter, and that it stopped selling in-game currency and ended auto-renewals for the affiliated subscription service at that point.

Engadget also reported that the app still opens, but only to show player stats.

Estimated reach and revenue

VGC reported that, citing Mobilegamer.biz and AppMagic estimates, Mario Kart Tour was downloaded more than 276 million times and generated about $268.5 million for Nintendo over its lifespan. Those figures are outside estimates, not numbers published directly by Nintendo.

For players, the immediate change is that service has ended. VGC reported that players are no longer able to log into the game's servers, while Engadget reported that the app can still open to show player stats.
