Feel Free Games is bringing its open-world life sim Luma Island to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, expanding a PC game built around farming, exploration and cooperative building to consoles. The new versions will support cross-platform play among PS5, Xbox and Steam users, but the PlayStation Store listing still gives the release date as “to be determined.”
The console versions support drop-in, drop-out online co-op for up to four people. Friends can share resources, work on the same farm and tackle challenges together across platforms. Feel Free Games also told GameRant that PC players will be able to invite console friends into existing worlds without starting over.
A life sim without the usual pressure gauges
Luma Island begins with a run-down farm, then opens into forests, mountains, jungles, temples and Pirate Cove. Players can grow crops, raise animals, hatch magical creatures called Lumas, build structures and pursue eight professions, including fishing, mining, cooking and crafting. Each profession has its own progression path and feeds into the resources and tools used to improve the farm.
The game deliberately removes two familiar sources of friction: there is no stamina bar and no inventory limit. Its three play styles also let players choose how much combat they want. Cozy Mode removes combat unless the player opts in, Adventure Mode mixes combat and relaxed play, and Hero Mode increases enemy difficulty.
That flexibility is part of why comparisons with Stardew Valley are easy to make, but Luma Island puts more emphasis on free-roaming exploration, profession-specific progression and shared online worlds. The console announcement promises parity in the broad experience rather than a stripped-down port.
The PC game already has a sizable audience
Luma Island first launched on PC on November 20, 2024. Feel Free Games says it has since attracted more than 800,000 players, giving the console editions an established community to connect with when cross-play arrives.
Two important details remain unresolved. Neither the developer’s announcement nor the PlayStation listing names a console launch date, and no console price has been announced. The PS5 page is available for wishlisting now, while the studio says more release information will follow.
