TLDR

Alinea Analytics estimates that Resident Evil Requiem has passed $500 million in gross revenue faster than any previous game in the series. Its model puts PlayStation at 48.1% of 8.5 million players and Steam at 43.4%; of more than 4 million PS5 copies, 1.2 million were physical. Analyst Rhys Elliott expects Requiem eventually to pass the Resident Evil 4 remake’s $600 million-plus revenue, but these are modeled estimates rather than publisher-reported totals.

Resident Evil Requiem has passed $500 million in estimated gross revenue, according to Alinea Analytics. The market-research firm describes the February release as the fastest game in the series to reach that threshold, putting it on course to overtake the Resident Evil 4 remake's $600 million-plus total.

That last comparison is a forecast, not a result Capcom has reported. Alinea head of market analysis Rhys Elliott presents the figures as the firm's cross-platform estimates, so they are best read as a model of Requiem's commercial trajectory rather than audited publisher sales.

PlayStation leads the estimated platform split

Alinea puts PlayStation at 48.1% of Requiem's 8.5 million players, followed by Steam at 43.4%. The report separately estimates that the PS5 version has sold more than 4 million copies. Of those, 30.8%, or about 1.2 million, were physical.

The distinction between players and copies matters. The 8.5 million figure describes the audience measured by Alinea across platforms, while the PS5 figure is specifically framed as copies sold. The report does not publish a detailed methodology for reconciling those measures, and its totals should not be treated as a replacement for Capcom's financial disclosures.

Even with that limitation, the split offers a useful picture of where Alinea believes the game found its audience. Steam's share is substantial, but PlayStation remains the largest single platform in the firm's estimate, with boxed copies still accounting for nearly one in three PS5 sales.

The new film lifted play more than revenue

The same analysis examines whether Zach Cregger's Resident Evil film moved the games. Alinea estimates Requiem's daily players rose about 20% after the movie opened, while the Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 remakes posted larger percentage or absolute gains across the catalogue.

Elliott's comparison separates a Sept. 10–17 discount-only window from a Sept. 19–24 period when the same discounts overlapped with the film. His conclusion is that lower prices did most of the work in selling more games, while the movie added a smaller lift in engagement and purchases. That context makes Requiem's estimated $500 million milestone part of a broader Capcom strategy: a new release can lead the franchise while aggressive catalogue discounts keep older games active around a major film moment.

Rhys Elliott@superhysResident Evil Requiem is a behemoth. It’s just passed $500M (@alineaanalytics estimates). Revenue-wise, it’s outpacing every other game in the franchise and will certainly leapfrog the Resident Evil 4 remake’s $600M+ when all is said and done. Requiem is also another hit in Capcom’s greatest run of its 46-year history, having sold a record number of games last fiscal year and openly targeting even more this year. Part of that success is Capcom’s strategy around catalogue sales and discounting on Steam. But PlayStation remains Requiem‘s #1 platform, accounting for 48.1% of the 8.5M players (followed by Steam with 43.4%). Of the more than 4M Requiem copies on PS5, 30.8% (or 1.2M) are physical.
