TLDR

SpaceX posted the next episode in its Starship docuseries. Titled “The Holy Grail of Rocketry,” it looks back at early Falcon 9 flights where engineers first proved reuse was possible. The episode also shows teams racing across the ocean to recover a floating Starship prototype. Company president Gwynne Shotwell said the Falcon 9 team’s work made launches more reliable and economical than single-use rockets. The post states that full rapid reusability remains the central aim for changing how people reach space.

Gwynne Shotwell@Gwynne_ShotwellI’m so proud of the entire Falcon 9 team (ok the whole SpaceX team)! Landing a rocket (over 10 years ago) paved the way for Falcon to change the game on getting payloads to orbit. Falcon 9 is a mostly reusable system that is far more reliable, far more economical and far less wasteful than its “use once and toss” rocket counterparts. Starship is Falcon 9’s successor and will be both fully and rapidly reusable (think airplanes) and that will make for a very exciting space future. Congrats once again to the Falcon 9 and broader SpaceX team!23d
SpaceX@SpaceXA fully and rapidly reusable rocket will fundamentally change how humanity accesses outer space. “The Holy Grail of Rocketry” continues the ongoing Starship series with a look back at the scrappy days of SpaceX engineers proving reuse was possible and takes you onboard a high-seas race to recover a floating Starship23d

SphinxX@sphinx_thesisSpaceX $SPCX is framing full and rapid reusability as the “Holy Grail of Rocketry.” And that’s really the point of Starship. Recovering a rocket is impressive. Reusing it quickly, repeatedly and at scale is what could completely change launch economics. The next leap in space may be less about building a bigger rocket and more about how fast you can fly the same one again.23d
