TLDR

Google announced on September 24, 2026, that Project Suncatcher’s first prototype satellite was scheduled to fly on SpaceX’s Transporter-18 mission. The company says the mission will test its AI chips and a new cooling system in orbit, gathering data to explore whether space could one day host scalable machine learning infrastructure. Google also plans to put two satellites in orbit in 2027 to test laser communications between them.

MedGemma reportedly outlined in posts from Nature Medicine and Eric Topol

In supplied social posts, Nature Medicine called MedGemma a collection of medical vision-language foundation models based on Gemma 3, while Eric Topol described it as a Google model published in the journal and said it can run on a smartphone.

20 satellites, including Google’s Project Suncatcher, planned for October 1 SpaceX launch

A launch-week post says Project Suncatcher will fly TPUs to space for the first time. The planned Transporter-18 lineup also includes Tanager-2 with Carbon Mapper and 18 SuperDoves.

All 27 AI models tested gave more uniform answers than Google across 155 topics

Tech Xplore reports that even the most varied model gave at least 18.7% less varied information than Google.
