Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony is out for the remainder of the playoffs after aggravating a right hand and wrist injury during two at-bats in Game 1 of the American League wild-card series, USA TODAY reported. The report cited manager Chad Tracy’s comments before Game 2 on Sept. 30.

Earlier that day, Jeff Passan reported that Tracy described damage to muscles in Anthony’s wrist as different from his previous finger injury. Passan said Boston was looking for a roster replacement and planned to put Jahmai Jones atop the lineup that night.

USA TODAY identified Curtis Mead as Anthony’s roster replacement for Game 2. Mead had not played since fracturing his left wrist in his Red Sox debut July 27, the outlet reported. Its Game 2 lineup listed Jones first, as designated hitter.
