Austin Riley’s eighth-inning homer lifts Braves past Phillies 5–3 in Wild Card opener

Austin Riley hit a three-run homer off Jhoan Duran in the eighth inning as Atlanta beat Philadelphia 5–3 in Game 1. J.T. Realmuto’s two-run triple had put the Phillies ahead 3–2, but Michael Harris’s single and Ozzie Albies’s hit-by-pitch set up Riley’s shot. Chris Sale struck out nine over 6⅓ innings; Jesus Luzardo allowed one run in five. The Braves lead the best-of-three series 1–0.
