Two of Google's signature Googlebook features will continue working without a paid Google AI Pro subscription after the laptop's included year ends, Android Authority reports.

He said Magic Pointer and Rambler do not require AI Pro, describing the 12-month subscription bundled with the laptops as something that sits on top of the normal Googlebook experience.

Magic Pointer lets a user move the cursor to bring Gemini into the material visible on screen. Rambler applies Google's voice-processing tools to dictated notes, cleaning up speech that would otherwise arrive as a rough transcript. Both features have been central to Google's pitch for its first laptop line.

That makes the subscription boundary more than a billing detail. Googlebooks start at $899 and include one year of AI Pro, so buyers needed to know whether the machines would lose prominent functions in month 13.
