TLDR

Engadget’s latest indie-game roundup puts Remedy’s Control Resonant at the front of a busy week that also includes Stick It to the Stickman, Doggy Don’t Care and Video Game Menu: The Game. Its biggest forward-looking item is Ball x Pit: Risen Ballbylon, a $7 expansion due November 12 with eight characters, more than 45 passive abilities, 24 balls and four new levels. The list also points to regional Steam showcases and upcoming releases including Virtue and a Sledgehammer.

Remedy’s newly released Control Resonant anchors Engadget’s latest indie-game roundup, but the list stretches from compact comedy games to a substantial Ball x Pit expansion arriving in November.

Featured Source

Control Resonant costs $60 and is available on Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series systems, with a Mac version planned for later in 2026. Remedy remains an independent studio despite the sequel’s larger budget. The game replaces Jesse Faden with her brother Dylan, moves beyond the Oldest House into an open world and swaps the original game’s transforming service weapon for melee combat. Engadget’s Kris Holt had not yet played it, but said the reviews he read were broadly positive while noting complaints about repetitive combat.

Smaller releases cover satire, chaos and fake operating systems

The roundup also recommends Stick It to the Stickman, a satirical roguelite brawler about fighting up a corporate ladder; Doggy Don’t Care, an adventure about a destructive dog left home alone; and Video Game Menu: The Game, a short parody built around navigating an increasingly absurd settings menu.

The wider indie calendar includes the Game Devs of Color showcase, which featured more than 60 games, plus Steam events for Mexican and Serbian developers. Day of the Devs has also opened submissions for a December 9 showcase.

Ball x Pit gets a larger paid expansion

Ball x Pit: Risen Ballbylon is scheduled for November 12 across PC, consoles and mobile devices. Engadget says the $7 expansion adds eight characters, more than 45 passive abilities, 24 new balls, another resource, extra city-building structures and four levels with new enemies and bosses.

Upcoming games in the same roundup include the October 27 narrative adventure Virtue and a Sledgehammer and the March 2027 puzzle game Laser Guy. The result is less a single-review verdict than a guide to what is playable now and what indie players may want to track next.
