Xiaomi has introduced an indoor security camera built around two sensors, combining an 8-megapixel main camera with a 4-megapixel secondary lens. XiaomiTime's report describes the system as capable of 4K video and full-color low-light recording.
The camera uses a built-in soft night light to preserve color after dark rather than relying only on monochrome infrared footage. XiaomiTime also lists a 1.5-teraflop AI processor for on-device detection and tracking.
Tracking for people and pets
The announced feature set includes human and pet detection, subject tracking and gesture control. Those functions are meant to let the camera distinguish useful household activity from generic motion and follow a subject within its field of view.
Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6. Recordings can be stored on a microSD card, in Xiaomi's cloud service or on network-attached storage, giving buyers local and subscription-based options. The report does not establish pricing or availability outside Xiaomi's launch market.
The specification list is promising, but image quality, detection accuracy and low-light color performance still need independent testing. A 4K sensor and dedicated AI hardware describe the camera's capabilities on paper; they do not by themselves establish how reliably it will identify people or pets in a real home.
