Paramount Skydance reportedly in advanced talks to settle suit blocking Warner Bros. Discovery takeover

Variety reported on September 18 that Paramount Skydance was in “advanced talks” with California Attorney General Rob Bonta to settle the 12-state antitrust suit holding up its takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery. Paramount declined to comment, while Bonta’s office said potential settlement talks were confidential and would not confirm or deny them. One critic sharing the report warned against an easy settlement, arguing that the merger would raise streaming prices, lower wages and cost jobs.
