Paramount Pictures is reportedly developing a live-action film set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, according to Deadline’s report and Deadline’s post summarizing it. Multiple follow-up reports and aggregation posts described the project as a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 movie at Paramount, including Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
The clearest production detail in the supplied packet is that producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is attached to the project, as Variety wrote and IGN also reported. That gives the adaptation at least one named creative figure, even if the usual early-stage questions, like writer, director, cast and release timing, are still unanswered.
What the packet does not show is a full standalone announcement from CD Projekt Red laying out the movie’s scope or confirming a production timeline. Instead, the evidence ties CD Projekt Red to the project as the owner of the underlying game universe and as a reported partner. In a supplied post, CD Projekt Red co-CEO Michał Nowakowski wrote that the company is "excited about Paramount as a future partner who shares our creative ambitions for the Cyberpunk franchise" and that it would share more details later, which supports partnership language but not many specifics yet: Nowakowski’s post.
So for now, the most solid version of the story is also the simplest one: a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation is reportedly in development at Paramount, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura is on board to produce. Everything beyond that, including how closely it will follow the game’s story or which corner of Night City it might explore, will have to wait for a fuller announcement.
If nothing else, Hollywood’s appetite for video game adaptations clearly has not flatlined. But this one is still in the “movie in development” phase, which in studio terms is much closer to a starting gun than a finished ride through Night City.
