Sony Santa Monica will open preorders for God of War Laufey on September 29 at 10 a.m. local time, with the PlayStation 5 game scheduled to launch February 16, 2027. The studio paired the timing with a detailed look at the available editions and Faye's Serpent Bow, a weapon designed to move between deliberate ranged shots and close-quarters combos.
The preorder bonus for the Standard Edition includes the Last Wish Armor Set, a Golden Leaves cosmetic for Phranque and an in-game resource pack. The physical Standard Edition provides the bonus through a download code, which requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account. The items themselves unlock through story progression.
The Digital Deluxe Edition adds a Dark Alchemy armor set, blade, Bow Scales and Catalyst, along with another resource pack, a digital mini artbook and the game's digital soundtrack. Sony did not include pricing or a retailer list in the announcement.
Two ways to fire the Serpent Bow
The Serpent Bow shifts rapidly from a dormant form to a ready weapon, allowing Faye to work arrows into attacks with her other gear. A full press of the aim trigger enters a precision mode with longer draw distance. Shots placed on particular parts of an enemy can impair movement or attacks, creating an opening for a melee follow-up.
Holding that aim also lets Faye charge as many as five arrows for one volley. A half press activates a more mobile hip-fire stance, built for clustered arrows at close range, juggling airborne enemies and extending combos while Faye moves between weapons and abilities.
Different ammunition supports rapid fire, explosive detonations and multi-target attacks. Equippable Serpent Scales change both the bow's appearance and the style it specializes in through a unique perk, while unlockable skills expand its options further.
Gear supports different builds
Armor choices affect perks, stats and appearance. Faye's other customizable equipment is divided into her Blade, the bow's Scales and Catalysts, magical artifacts that channel different effects. Together, those systems point to a combat setup that can be tuned around melee pressure, ranged control or magic rather than treating the bow as a single-purpose sidearm.
The announcement stops short of giving preorder prices, regional availability or performance details. Its focus is the edition breakdown and the clearest explanation yet of how Faye's signature bow is meant to function in combat.
