Sony’s PlayStation Blog announcement for PlayStation Game Music Awards 2026 includes Death Stranding 2: On the Beach on its list of 20 nominated game soundtracks, under the title “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach (Original Video Game Score).”

That matters because the nomination described in the post is for the soundtrack or score, not a broader game-of-the-year-style honor for Death Stranding 2 itself. The blog post says the program targets soundtracks from games released in PlayStation formats.

Sony’s description of the award mechanics is also narrower than a general popularity vote. In the PlayStation Blog post, the company says one work will be selected from the 20 nominated game soundtracks based on Spotify play counts. The same post says user support comments for nominated works will be used to recognize a special prize. An official PlayStation Japan post on X also describes the program as one for game soundtracks released in PlayStation formats, with awards tied to streaming plays and support comments.

The PlayStation Blog announcement says the play-count tracking period and support-comment submission period run from “today, Oct. 1” through Oct. 31 at 11:59 p.m. Japan time, with results planned for early December 2026.

The nomination also drew attention on X. A fan post pointed out that Death Stranding 2 had been nominated, and the HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN account later reposted it.
