The Game Awards celebrated the first anniversary of Silent Hill f two days early. Its Sept. 23 post said the game had been released “one year ago today,” but Konami’s official launch announcement is dated Sept. 25, 2025 and says the game launched that day.
Konami repeated the Sept. 25 date in a May 2026 milestone announcement about the game passing 2 million units shipped worldwide. The two official records agree with each other, and neither identifies a Sept. 23 release on another platform or in another region. The available evidence therefore points to an early anniversary post, not a different launch date.
A Japanese setting for a long-running horror series
Silent Hill f launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, the Epic Games Store and Microsoft Windows. Konami offered a physical Day One edition alongside Digital Standard and Digital Deluxe versions. The publisher describes it as the first Silent Hill entry set in Japan, moving the series to the fictional 1960s town of Ebisugaoka.
The story follows high school student Shimizu Hinako as fog transforms her hometown and forces her to face creatures, mysteries and decisions that shape her fate. Ryukishi07 wrote the narrative, kera handled creature and character designs, and Akira Yamaoka and Kensuke Inage composed its music.
What happened during its first year
By May 2026, Konami said physical and digital shipments had exceeded 2 million worldwide. The publisher also credited the game with three wins at the Famitsu Dengeki Game Awards 2025, including its fan-voted game of the year award, plus four wins at IGN Japan’s 2025 awards.
Those milestones make the anniversary worth noting, but the calendar still matters. Based on Konami’s own launch record, the one-year mark falls on Sept. 25, 2026. The Game Awards’ post does not explain why it treated Sept. 23 as release day.
