Szn brings a former Siri engineer’s personal AI agent to iMessage

Bloomberg reports that Nikhil Gupta’s service will launch in October, using messages and Apple integrations to coordinate purchases, vendors and everyday tasks.

TLDR

Former Apple Intelligence and Siri engineer Nikhil Gupta is preparing to launch szn, a personal AI agent that starts inside an iMessage thread, Bloomberg reports. The October service is designed to browse websites, make purchases, coordinate vendors and contact people on a user’s behalf, with a dedicated app planned later. Gupta says each customer gets a dedicated model and personal data is not used for training. Szn also claims integrations with Apple Notes, Find My and iCloud files. Apple has not endorsed the service, and its dependence on iMessage could become a platform risk.

Former Apple Intelligence and Siri engineer Nikhil Gupta is preparing to launch a personal AI agent that begins as an iMessage conversation instead of another standalone chatbot.

The service, called szn, is scheduled to launch in October, Gupta told Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. A dedicated app is planned later, but the initial pitch is that users can delegate work without leaving the Messages interface they already use.

The agent is designed to act, not just answer

Bloomberg reports that szn will be able to browse websites, make purchases and coordinate vendors on a user’s behalf. It will receive its own name, email address and phone number so it can contact people and respond to messages while handling a task.

The company’s product site describes a similar workflow: send a text, voice note, photo or forwarded email, then let the agent make calls, send emails, follow up and return when a decision is needed. That positions szn closer to a remote personal assistant than a question-and-answer bot.

Gupta says each customer will have a dedicated model and that personal data will not be used for training. Those privacy claims come from the company and have not been independently audited in the material reviewed for this story.

Apple integrations are part of the appeal—and the risk

Szn is also designed to collaborate through shared Apple Notes, use Find My location data and work with files stored in iCloud, according to Bloomberg. Keeping those interactions inside iMessage could make the agent feel native to iPhone users even though it is not an Apple product.

That dependence creates an obvious constraint. Apple has previously restricted third-party services that rely on iMessage, and the company has not announced or endorsed szn. The agent’s long-term access could therefore depend on technical and policy decisions outside the startup’s control.

The October launch will provide the first meaningful test of whether the service can safely turn broad instructions into reliable real-world work. Until then, the promised integrations and task range remain company claims rather than independently demonstrated performance.
