Giants release Odell Beckham Jr. after catchless three-game return

The New York Giants released Odell Beckham Jr. on September 29, ending a return that produced no catches in three games, ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reports.

Beckham played 19 snaps across those games and drew one target. Six of those snaps came in Sunday’s 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans, when his lone target was a Jameis Winston pass that was nearly intercepted.

A roster decision at receiver

Raanan reports that Beckham’s roster spot was under pressure because New York needed to make a decision on Braxton Berrios. The Giants’ punt returner had exhausted his practice squad elevations and was signed to the 53-man roster Tuesday.

Beckham is not expected to join the Giants’ practice squad at this time, a source told ESPN.

A brief reunion

Beckham rejoined New York in the spring and earned a place on the final roster as the fifth receiver, ESPN reports. His previous NFL season was in 2024, when he caught nine passes for 54 yards with the Miami Dolphins.

The return brought him back to the franchise that drafted him 12th in 2014.
